Sylhet Sunrisers cricket team started its BPL campaign in 2012 in the inaugural edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. The team has a long history of ownership changes, name changes, and many other debacles in these years.
In 2016, the Sylhet team did not participate in the BPL because of breaking an agreement with the tournament organizers.

Sylhet Sunrisers Performance in BPL 2021-22
Sylhet Sunrisers did not play well in the group stage of BPL 2021-22. Sylhet started its world cup campaign with a two wickets defeat at the hands of the Comilla Victorians.
Sylhet opened their account with a seven-wicket victory against Dhaka. It was their only victory in the tournament.
The team lost every match they played later in the tournament, and one match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
It was a pathetic performance by the Sylhet team as they topped the points table from the bottom side.

Sylhet team has some wonderful players from the overseas market. The local talent was nothing less than the original ones.
The bowling unit was mostly equipped with local talent, and they performed well. It was Taskin Ahmad who led the pace attack. He, along with Sohag Gazi, Nazmul Islam, and Musaddek Hossain, was outstanding with the bowl.
There was nothing much in the batting lineup. The team had good players like Anamul Haque, Mosaddek Hossain, and Lendel Simmon, who played well. Simmons also made a century in the 2022 season.

Sylhet Sunrisers BPL 2023 Predictions
Sylhet Sunrisers could not perform as per the management’s expectations. So, there is a strong possibility that the management will find other players this year.
The bowlers Taskin, Nazmul Islam, and allrounder Musaddek might be safe because of their previous year’s performance. But other Bangladeshi players might be released from the team.
On the other hand, the overseas players were also not good for the team. The only player who gave his hundred percent last year was West Indian opener, Lendel Simmons.
Simmons will be available for the team this year because he did not have any other task during the BPL timeframe.
The other overseas player is Collin Ingram, who might get retention. BPL management will go for more players available full-time this year. West Indian and English county players are the main attraction for the franchise.
